Football League World rounds up the latest news from the CBS Arena.
Frank Lampard has had just over a month to evaluate his Coventry City squad after taking over following Mark Robins' sacking in November, and he is already starting to show his hand in the transfer market.
The Sky Blues have had a difficult season so far, and despite some improvements under the guidance of the Chelsea and England legend, they remain towards the bottom of the Championship table.
However, the January window does offer him the opportunity to make changes to his team, and help push them further up the standings in the second half of the campaign and away from any potential relegation threat.
Football League World has rounded up some of the latest transfer stories involving Coventry, as Lampard prepares for his first FA Cup tie with his new side.
Ben Sheaf is being targeted by the Championship's league leaders, according to Leeds United News, with Daniel Farke looking to add to his side in their bid to win promotion back to the Premier League following defeat in the play-off final last season.
The 26-year-old has been a regular for Lampard throughout the current campaign and he is also on the radar of a number of top flight clubs. The Sky Blues' captain has been impressive once again in 2024/25, despite his team's struggles, and has a year-and-a-half left on his contract.
Despite this reported interest, his manager is keen to keep hold of him. As per the Coventry Telegraph’s paper edition on Tuesday (page 37) - via Leeds United News, the former Derby County boss made no secret of his intentions with the midfielder: "No, only that I knew that they are rumours I’ve heard them as you have, so yeah, I want to keep the players here."
The report did state, however, that due to pressures to keep on track with financial requirements, an offer over £8m may tempt Coventry, although a formal approach has not yet occurred.
Rob Holding's time at Crystal Palace has been a difficult one, and the centre-back is yet to make an appearance in the Premier League for the club since joining in the summer of 2023.
He may be offered a reprieve soon though, with The Sun reporting that Lampard is keen on bringing the former Arsenal man to the CBS Arena this month on loan.
The 29-year-old has been pushed out of the squad by his manager, Oliver Glasner, with the outlet also revealing that he has fallen out with the Austrian, and he is now playing for the club's Under-21s team.
Lampard is now trying to persuade Holding to drop to the Championship to help Coventry push towards mid-table, and his experience would be welcome at the Sky Blues, in an attempt to shore up the back line.
Blackburn Rovers have shown great interest in Coventry's Liam Kitching and the two clubs have held talks about the possibility of a deal for the defender, according to the Lancashire Telegraph.
However, following the 25-year-old's full 90-minute appearance against Norwich City at the weekend, the move remains in the balance.
Kitching has played just eight times in the Championship this season, and only twice under Lampard, but there is now fresh doubt over the deal which at one point seemed incredibly likely to happen.
The centre-back joined the Sky Blues from Barnsley for over £4m on deadline day in the 2023 summer transfer window, and despite starting 25 times in the Championship last season, this campaign has been a difficult one for him.
Only time will tell with this deal, but if Holding is brought in, then it would not be a surprise to see Kitching sold to Rovers.
