A seventh league goal from winger Dan James helped Leeds United to another impressive home victory on Wednesday evening, grabbing the second for the Whites just after the hour mark.

The result sees Daniel Farke’s side return to the summit of the Sky Bet Championship, extending their unbeaten run to 11 matches in all competitions.

Speaking after the match, goalscorer James was delighted the team were able to pick up another valuable three points under the Elland Road lights.

“It is a massive win for us,” the Wales international told LUTV following the full-time whistle. “Obviously, two wins in a few days at home.

“We keep building this home form. I think the clean sheet was so important tonight. Again, I thought we were defending absolutely brilliantly. It starts from there.

“We got an early goal and there was going to be times where they were on top tonight, but it is about defending well and when we got that second to keep pushing from there.”

As well as getting on the end of a pinpoint cross from Manor Solomon to double the Whites’ lead, James was also the provider for his teammate’s opener, and believes the two have formed a good relationship on the field.

“I think I know he is going to be in there without even looking up and he knows exactly the same on the other side,” the 27-year-old added.

“It is something that we always try to do. I think this is the first time where we have set each other both up in the same game.

“It is always nice to do that, knowing that he is going to be in there because it adds to getting assists and also goals.

“He is brilliant at getting in there. He has been class throughout the year. He has really found his form and he will continue to do that.

“I think when he cuts in, I always know he is going to put that ball in. He is great at putting it in the far corner, but he was in a position where he probably wouldn’t have been able to do that.

“I think Jayden could have headed it but just as he is about to head it, I shouted, and it was just about getting good contact.

“For me, it is something that I try to work on, just getting good contact, because I think sometimes if you try and be too perfect with it the keeper can make a good save.

“It was just about getting good contact on the ball, and thankfully it went back in the net. It was a great ball!”
