The details of a heated exchange between a trio of Real Madrid stars during the club’s meeting with Leganés has on Wednesday night come to the fore online.

Real, of course, are fresh off securing a nail-biting victory.

After making the short trip across Madrid for a meeting with the aforementioned Leganés, Los Blancos thanked youngster Gonzalo García’s last-gasp header for a hard-fought 3-2 triumph.

Carlo Ancelotti’s troops, in turn, have booked their spot in the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey.

As alluded to above, though, on what eventually proved to be a positive evening’s work for Real Madrid, tensions were running high.

As revealed by Marca, late in the 90, the usually reserved Luka Modrić lost his temper with teammate Vinícius Jr:

‘After a finished play, which ended in a corner in Leganés’ favour, Modrić went to Vinícius, who had been left behind in attack, to give him a monumental telling-off.’

The latter did not take kindly to his captain’s words, hitting back at Modrić as a result.

This culminated in the Croatian making a beeline for Vinícius, to make clear once more that his work rate was not of an acceptable level.

Modrić was soon backed by midfield partner Federico Valverde, who also provided Vinícius with a stern talking to.

The Brazilian eventually backed down, but looked visibly frustrated following the full-time whistle despite his side’s victory at The Estadio Municipal de Butarque.
