Juventus coach Thiago Motta praised Douglas Luiz during a pre-match press conference on Friday, suggesting that the Brazilian midfielder could get a chance against Torino amid rumours of a possible return to the Premier League.
Douglas Luiz has been struggling for playing time in Turin after completing a €50m transfer from Aston Villa last summer.
The Brazil international has played only 354 minutes across all competitions and has not started a Serie A match since October 19. He has missed 12 games this season due to injuries.
Douglas Luiz was reportedly offered to Manchester United and City in November, and recent reports in Italy and England have linked the ex-Aston Villa star with Nottingham Forest and Fulham.

According to multiple Italian sources, including Tuttosport and Corriere Torino, Douglas Luiz could return to the Juventus starting XI in a Serie A derby against Torino tomorrow to replace the suspended Manuel Locatelli.
“He is a high-level midfielder who can play in the three positions we use,” Motta said about Douglas Luiz during his press conference.
“He can score goals and provide the final pass, he has creativity, and he knows how to build up. He can do more defensively, like everyone else. He can cover three positions and have freedom in a context.”
Motta didn’t mention any transfer negotiation involving the Brazilian midfielder.
Juventus are still unbeaten in Serie A but have collected 11 draws in 18 matches and are three points below a Champions League spot with a game in hand.
