Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz has already missed 15 games due to injuries this season, preventing him from getting regular game time in Turin.

The Brazilian joined the Old Lady in a €50m move from Aston Villa last summer, but recurring fitness issues have forced him to the sidelines in many games for the Bianconeri.

The 26-year-old had had a tough start to the season regardless of injuries, as had featured in the Juventus’ XI just twice in the opening eight Serie A rounds.

Injury issues began in October when Douglas Luiz missed 10 matches due to a muscle problem, including an away Champions League game against his former club, Aston Villa, in November.

He returned to action against Venezia on December 14 but was forced to rest in the following game at Monza.

A new muscle injury forced him to the sidelines for recent games against PSV and Inter.

He returned to action as a substitute against Cagliari this past weekend, but he was subbed off after just 20 minutes.

Juventus said on Tuesday that Douglas Luiz had suffered a low-grade lesion of the femoral biceps of the left thigh. According to Italian sources, he won’t be available again before the international break in March.

As reported by Transfermarkt, Douglas Luiz had not missed any Aston Villa games due to injuries in 2023-24
