Manchester United staged a dramatic second-half comeback against Everton on Saturday afternoon as they came from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw at Goodison Park.
The Red Devils were aiming to ease their way into proceedings but the energy of their hosts proved too much to handle during the opening stages. It took just 19 minutes for Everton to punish United's inability to clear a simple corner, with Beto scoring for the fourth consecutive match in the Premier League.
Things went from bad to worse for United before the first-half came to a conclusion, with Abdoulaye Doucoure doubling Everton's lead. The midfielder, who returned to the lineup following suspension, reacted quickest to Jack Harrison's parried shot to head beyond Andre Onana.
United managed to reduce the deficit with 20 minutes to spare as Bruno Fernandes fired home an excellent free kick, with the Portuguese's effort helping shift the momentum in the favour of Ruben Amorim's side.
The Red Devils completed their quick-fire turnaround just eight minutes later as Manuel Ugarte produced a similarly impressive finish on the volley to equalise, but there was still time for more drama.
Everton were initially awarded a stoppage-time penalty as Ashley Young went to ground under the influence of both Matthijs de Ligt and Harry Maguire, but referee Andy Madley was sent to the monitor and subsequently overturned his decision to spare United as they earned a hard-fought point.
