Spanish journalist Matte Moretto has reported that Everton have been keeping tabs on the AC Milan right-back Emerson Royal and want to sign him in the ongoing winter transfer window. They have already made contact with AC Milan regarding the signing of the Brazilian.
The Toffees face competition from Fulham in his pursuit, and the most important factor regarding the signing will be whether Emerson want to get back to the Premier League. However, the 26-year-old has enough quality and can be a good signing for whichever club manages to win the race.
Everton are focusing on defensive solidarity, and they want to strengthen their full-back position. Emerson is a versatile option who can play as a right-back and also as a left-back. He has previous experience in the Premier League while playing for Tottenham Hotspur but was not consistent with his performances.

He has appeared in 17 matches this season in Serie A, playing a total of 1382 minutes so far. Emerson concedes an average of 1.04 goals for every 90 minutes that the player is on the pitch. His Clean Sheets ratio is currently at 41%. That means Emerson has kept a clean sheet in seven matches out of the 17 that the player has played in. See how they rank against other Serie A players.
The Brazilian still has enough time left in his career, and playing regularly for Everton can go on to reignite the spark in him and also help the club. His transfer to AC Milan has not been successful, as he has not featured regularly in the starting line-up of the side. So, the Serie A side might agree to sell him in the ongoing January transfer window.
Everton are 16th in the Premier League points table with 20 points in 21 matches. They have managed to win four matches, draw eight, and lose nine matches. The signing of Emerson could turn out to be vital and a breath of fresh air for the side to turn around their performances in the latter half of the season.
