Benjamin Pavard will start for Inter Milan against Barcelona tomorrow, where he’ll have the task of keeping Raphinha quiet.

Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, report that the Frenchman is fit enough to be in the Nerazzurri’s starting eleven for the Champions League semifinal second leg.

Benjamin Pavard missed the first leg of Inter’s Champions League semifinal tie against Barcelona.

The 29-year-old was out with an ankle problem that he’d sustained in a Serie A clash with Roma.

Pavard also missed this weekend’s Serie A match against Hellas Verona.

However, the Gazzetta confirm that Pavard has been rapidly recovering from his injury.

Therefore, the former Bayern Munich and Stuttgart defender is already back in training.

Yann Bisseck started for Inter Milan in the first leg against Barcelona. The German filled in for Pavard on the left of the Nerazzurri back three.

However, reports the Gazzetta, it will be Benjamin Pavard who starts in the position tomorrow.

The Frenchman is ready to play a role from the start, and not just from the bench.

Pavard’s return to the lineup certainly comes as a boost for Inter.

The 29-year-old has been one of the Nerazzurri’s outstanding performers throughout the Champions League knockout rounds.

Pavard’s pace and one-on-one-defending will be a key asset for Inter in keeping one of Barcelona’s danger men quiet.

In Wednesday’s first leg, Raphinha scored one goal and created another for the Blaugranas. Therefore, Inter will hope that Pavard is able to keep the Brazilian international from having the same sort of influence tomorrow.
