Ex Inter Milan Defender Argues Inter ‘Reborn’ Thanks To Spalletti, Conte & Inzaghi | OneFootball

Former defender Andrea Ranocchia feels that Inter Milan were “reborn” thanks to coaches Luciano Spalleti, Antonio Conte, and Simone Inzaghi.

Speaking to Chiamarsi Bomber, vis FCInterNews, the former Nerazzurri captain looked back on the work that the three coaches did in getting the team to where they are now.

Inter are certainly one of the most formidable teams in Europe at the moment.

In Serie A, the Nerazzurri are the reigning champions. Last season they won the title in dominant fashion.

Meanwhile, this time around Inter face a battle to keep their crown, as Napoli have made a run for the title.

In Europe, Inter are among the favourites to win the Champions League this season.

Two years ago, the Nerazzurri went all the way to the final of Europe’s top club competition. There, they only narrowly missed out to Manchester City.

Over the last four season, Inter have picked up seven pieces of silverware. That’s in addition to appearances in the Champions League and Europa League finals.

Less than a decade ago, however, Inter were in a very different situation than they are now.

The Nerazzurri had experienced the glory of winning the European Treble during the 2009-10 season. However, shortly after that, a real slump followed.

During that period of the better part of a decade. Inter cycled through a number of coaches with none quite bringing the right balance.

However, in recent years, that has not been a problem.

Former Inter defender Ranocchia argued that ‘The trio of Spalletti, Conte, and Simone Inzaghi represented, in my view, a personal rebirth, but also that of the team and the club.”

“I’d make this comparison,” he continued. “Spalletti dug the hole and put in the first pillars. Then Conte built the building.”

“And now Simone Inzaghi has furnished it very well,” said Ranocchia.

“Spalletti put a lot of himself into it. He brought Inter back to the Champions League after all the problems that were there.”

“Conte gave the team a winning mentality and improved the atmosphere of the team.”

“And Inzaghi is carrying on with that work,” said Ranocchia. “He brought Inter to the Champions League and to the top of the league.”
