Wingback Matteo Darmian will be back in the Inter Milan starting eleven for this evening’s Serie A match away to Udinese.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews. They also report that midfielder Davide Frattesi and defender Yann Bisseck will come into the lineup.
Darmian is a player who has become a real stalwart for Inter.
The former Manchester United and Torino defender is an extremely versatile player.
Darmian is most at home playing on the right flank as a wingback. However, he has also filled in in other areas when the team has needed him to.
The 34-year-old can play on the left flank as well as right.
And during the second half of the 2022-23 season in particular, Darmian became Inter’s first-choice right centre-back in their back three due to a long-term injury and contract saga with Milan Skriniar.
At the start of this season, Darmian has continued to be a regular in the Inter team.
The Italian international started Inter’s first five matches across all competitions.
Darmian dropped out of the lineup for last weekend’s Serie A derby clash with AC Milan, however. It was Denzel Dumfries who started at right-wingback in that match.
However, Tuttosport report, Darmian will regain his place this evening.
Dumfries will drop out of the team, even despite having agreed a new contract with Inter.
Meanwhile, Tuttosport predict, Darmian starting won’t be the only change that Inzaghi makes to the team that started against Milan last weekend.
In midfield, Nicolo Barella is absent with a thigh injury. Therefore, Barella’s fellow Italian international Davide Frattesi will start in his place.
Frattesi will form the midfield trio alongside Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Hakan Calhanoglu.
And in defense, Tuttosport report, Yann Bisseck will replace Benjamin Pavard.
