Carlton Palmer gives his take on whether Miron Muslic could attract interest in the summer after an impressive impact at Home Park.

Carlton Palmer has told Football League World that while Miron Muslic’s impressive impact could attract interest, he expects him to remain at Plymouth Argyle for the foreseeable.

The Pilgrims looked like a team without hope when Wayne Rooney was sacked on New Year's Eve. Although they were only four points from safety, they hadn't won since early November, and a couple of dreadful results had them staring down the barrel.

However, the Austrian arrived at Home Park just 10 days later and tightened Argyle’s defence while making them more threatening in attack.

In the league, they have secured impressive victories over Millwall and West Bromwich Albion and, aside from Burnley’s thrashing, have not conceded more than two goals in any game.

But it is in the FA Cup that they have found a route to success, with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over potential Premier League champions, Liverpool, creating a moment that will live long in the memories of Argyle supporters.

While they couldn’t replicate their heroics away at Manchester City, Muslic has unsurprisingly earned widespread praise, and if they manage to avoid relegation, he will be remembered for masterminding one of the great escapes.

Unfortunately for Plymouth, despite their improvements, they remain three points from safety and will need Muslic to find that extra spark to guide his side over the line.

If he does keep them up, Plymouth may soon find other clubs eyeing up a potential move for their manager.

With this in mind, Football League World spoke exclusively to former England international Carlton Palmer to get his thoughts on whether the Pilgrims should fear Muslic moving on in the summer.

"Miron Muslic has done a fantastic job since taking over – it has been very impressive," said Palmer.

"Do I fear other clubs will target him? Of course, especially if he can get them out of the situation they are in.

"They are in a great position. They are only three points away from safety when they were dead and buried. If he gets them out of that, then of course clubs will be looking. I am sure clubs are already looking at the way he has gone there and delivered.

"But if he gets them out, then although other clubs may come knocking, I think his next job is to see what he can achieve at Plymouth Argyle. It is a good and well-run football club.

"Anything is possible, and it would be a miraculous escape, just like Danny Röhl's at Sheffield Wednesday. If he manages to do it, then he is going to be targeted this summer."

Plymouth's hopes of staying up are firmly pinned on the influence of Muslic and his next task is to pick up three points in a relegation six-pointer.

Travelling to Hull City on Tuesday evening, Argyle will know that it is the perfect opportunity to secure their first league away win of the season and draw level with the Tigers on 33 points.

Following that, they have 11 more games to secure the points required, and with fixtures against the likes of Derby, Swansea City, and Portsmouth, they will know there are must-win matches among them.

Making Home Park a difficult place for visitors will be a key part of their run-in, and Muslic will be urging the supporters to be the 12th man, helping to drive the team towards three vital points every home game.

If he can pull off the seemingly impossible, then teams may arrive for his signature, but for now he will just be focused on leading his current employers to safety.
