Feyenoord could be a different opponent from the one Milan expected to face in the Champions League knockout phase play-off, as they decided to sack coach Brian Priske only two days before their meeting in Rotterdam.
The Eredivisie club appointed Priske to replace Arne Slot last summer, and although he secured the Dutch Super Cup with a victory over PSV Eindhoven in the early weeks of his tenure, their campaign has recently taken a downturn due to three consecutive league defeats.

Prsike managed to halt such a losing streak last weekend, steering his side to a 3-0 win over Sparta Rotterdam, which didn’t prove enough to regain the confidence of his club, who decided to part ways with the Danish manager on Monday.
“Feyenoord and Brian Priske part ways with immediate effect,” reads an official statement published by Feyenoord.
“We thank Brian for his time at the club and wish him all the best.”

Feyenoord have managed 11 wins, six draws and four defeats in Eredivisie under Priske, and currently sit fifth in the standings, 11 points adrift joint-leaders Ajax and PSV.

The Rotterdam outfit has also lost their leading goalscorer during the January transfer window, as Santiago Gimenez was sold to Milan and is expected to start against his former club on Wednesday after scoring on his Serie A debut at Empoli.
