Barcelona face Inter Milan in the second leg of a Champions League semifinal tie this coming week.

And one of the big doubts regarding the Blaugranas lineup comes in goal.

Wojcech Szczesny started in the first leg.

However, Marc-Andre Ter Stegen has returned to fitness.

In fact, the German started in Barcelona’s league outing against Real Valladolid yesterday.

Therefore, it is clear that Ter Stegen is ready to become a regular part of the Barcelona setup over the final matches in the run-in of the season.

Ter Stegen’s return after a long knee injury has even raised some questions about whether the former Borussia Monchengladbach keeper could be in the starting lineup against Inter.

There would be nothing stopping the German, fitness-wise.

However, Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has put any such notions to rest decisively.

Ter Stegen may be fully fit. But he is not yet ready to parachute back into the starting eleven for a potentially season-defining match like Tuesday’s.

Therefore, Flick will continue to put his trust in veteran former Juventus, Roma, and Arsenal keeper Wojcjech Szczesny.

The Barcelona coach confirmed that “Szczesny will start both in the Champions League against Inter, and then against Real Madrid.”

“That’s the plan,” he added.

Meanwhile, Flick also updated on the fitness of midfielder Gavi. “I think Gavi is alright,” he said.

“I don’t think he has an injury. Or at least I hope not.”

“At the end of the match he was fine, but we’ll see [today].”
