A one-time member of the goalkeeper ranks at Real Madrid is open to the prospect of joining Barcelona over the weeks ahead.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who point towards Keylor Navas as the player in question.

The subject of the situation between the posts has of course dominated the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the last 24 hours.

This comes after Barcelona no.1 Marc-André ter Stegen suffered a serious knee injury.

During the Blaugrana’s 5-1 drubbing of Villarreal, Ter Stegen was stretchered off in evident distress just before the half-time whistle.

It has since been confirmed that the German international ‘has a complete rupture in the patella tendon in his right knee’.

If Ter Stegen is to return to the pitch at all this season, as much will come during the term’s final months.

The brass at Barcelona, as a result, have been left with little choice but to look towards the free agent market, for opportunities to reinforce the shot-stopper options at the disposal of boss Hansi Flick.

And, as alluded to above, on Monday, one such option has seemingly opened the door to a Camp Nou switch.

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo:

‘Keylor Navas is willing to listen to Barca and would be happy to start a stage in the Catalan team if he is given the opportunity because what he wants is to play.’

Former Real Madrid no.1 Navas, for his part, is currently a free agent, following the expiration of his contract with French champions Paris Saint-Germain.

It now remains to be seen whether or not the interest in joining forces is mutual at Barcelona…
