Our old mate Gabby Agbonlahor has been talking about Newcastle United once again.

The former Aston Villa player focusing on one NUFC player in particular.

It seems like only two minutes since Gabby Agbonlahor was claiming no quality players wanted to pay for Newcastle United, that they didn’t want to live in Newcastle Upon Tyne.

Agbonlahor trolling Newcastle United fans, taunting them that players would rather sign for Brentford on less money, than play for United and live on Tyneside.

Yet three years on from that embarrassing Gabby Agbonlahor lame trolling, the likes of Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali, Joelinton, Alexander Isak, Lewis Hall, Tino Livramento, Kieran Trippier, Sven Botman and Anthony Gordon are all happily playing for NUFC and loving living in the region.

Not only that, but this group of Newcastle United players have already won a trophy this season and are on course for another Champions League campaign, just needing to finish things off in the remaining eight games of the season.

Plus, even better, United yet to lose any players to Brentford…

Gabby Agbonlahor talking to 10bet about Newcastle United and one player in particular – 11 April 2025:

“Alexander Isak is 100% the best striker in the Premier League right now.

“I have always said over my career playing and watching strikers, pace kills.

“Thierry Henry, best ever Premier League striker, one of the best ever strikers to play the game. Isak’s the closest I’ve seen to that.

“His long leg strides, he can finish right or left foot from anywhere, good in the air, so quick when he’s running onto that left hand side as well, and he can play off the left.

“For me, he’s definitely the best striker in the Premier League and that’s why there’s so much pressure on Newcastle getting Champions League football, because the only way he stays is if Newcastle get Champions League football.

“If they don’t, I’m sure there’ll be suitors all around the world for him.”

It comes with the territory doesn’t it, if you have quality players such as Alexander Isak and others, then rival clubs will want them and the media never stopping inventing stories claiming other clubs could get them.

As Gabby Agbonlahor indicates though, if/when Newcastle United qualify for Champions League football, why would Alexander Isak and others want to leave? A club now winning silverware and if successful in these remaining games,, guaranteeing their players AND new signings, Champions League football. Just like last season.

Interesting then, if Newcastle get a top five place, will the conversations change, will journalists be then instead talking about which players United and other Champions League clubs will sign from those clubs who haven’t got Champions League football? You know, the likes of Man U, Spurs, plus potentially the likes of Chelsea and Gabby’s beloved Aston Villa?
