Galway United official announcement – 13 February 2025:
‘Galway United can confirm they have reached an agreement with Newcastle United for the transfer of Kyle Fitzgerald for an undisclosed fee.
Kyle joined Galway United initially as a 14-year-old, from local side Mervue United and has quickly progressed through the ranks. Historically winning the league with the U14 squad in 2021.
Kyle then made the step-up to our U17s in 2022 and then subsequently to the U20s in 2023. His performances stood out here yet again, as he began training with the senior team and earned a professional contract in December of 2023.
Since Kyle signed his professional contract at the end of 2023, he has been in regularly with the first team squad and made his full senior debut during our 2024 SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division campaign. The then 17-year-old substitute against Drogheda United, showcased his talent in front of thousands at a packed Eamonn Deacy Park.
Kyle Fitzgerald of course featured regularly for Ireland underage squads with his exciting and technical style of play. Being part of the national team as far back as U15s. Progressing onwards with the U16s and U17s Irish teams.
