The 2025 Copa del Rey final between Real Madrid and Barcelona is set to kick off in a few hours at Estadio de La Cartuja in Sevilla.

Having been beaten by their rivals twice this season, including once in the Spanish Super Cup final, Real Madrid will be gunning for revenge, aiming to end Barça’s hopes of a historic treble.

A win would also mean a third trophy of the season for Los Blancos, with Carlo Ancelotti’s team having already lifted the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Intercontinental Cup.

Apart from the trophy, winning the Copa del Rey would also guarantee a sizeable financial guarantee for Real Madrid.

The prize money

As per MARCA, the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) awards approximately €1.2 million to the team that lifts the Copa del Rey trophy.

This amount results from adding the fixed sum for participating in the tournament and the bonuses for each round surpassed. The runner-up receives a slightly lower figure: around €1 million.

These amounts are primarily funded through the sale of television rights.

Additional revenue

Additionally, income from the final’s ticket sales must be considered, with this year’s match taking place at the Estadio de La Cartuja.

With over 50,000 tickets available for both clubs and prices ranging from €72 to €270, a significant revenue is expected.

After deducting organisational expenses, the proceeds are divided into thirds: one third for the RFEF and one third for each finalist. Thus, Real Madrid could pocket around €1 million extra solely from matchday revenue.

In total, winning the Copa del Rey could help Real Madrid generate more than €2 million, combining the federation prize and ticket sales revenue.

Furthermore, the Copa del Rey champion automatically qualifies for the Spanish Super Cup. By participating in it, clubs such as Barcelona or Real Madrid earn at least €6 million, which can rise to €8 million if they win the trophy.
