Manchester City host Plymouth Argyle on Saturday in the fifth round of the FA Cup, with the away side still on a high from their giant-killing win over Liverpool.

Miron Muslic’s side pulled off a miraculous victory over the Premier League leaders in the last round to book their place against City. Can they do it twice?

Recent form

Man City’s recent form has been reflective of their season: inconsistent. A devastating Champions League knockout to Real Madrid was followed by a 2-0 loss at the hands of Arne Slot’s Liverpool. They then faced their bogey team Tottenham, but managed to turn their fortunes around with a 1-0 win.

Plymouth are still in the relegation places of the Championship, but their form is turning around. They have only lost one of their last seven games, and this FA Cup run is giving fans a huge reason to cheer, despite their league position.

What’s been said?

Pep Guardiola: “No, they are not unknown. When you can beat the best team in the country this season Liverpool – and also Brentford – they are not unknown. And not just Liverpool, I saw some of their other games.

“We are expecting a difficult game. We played many times in the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup against lower-league teams and always they are tricky. What these teams do, they do really well. And if you are not ready you are in trouble.”

Miron Muslic: “I think it can’t get any bigger. Manchester City away, at the Etihad, supported by 8,000 of the Green Army. We’re going to have a Green Wall over there, and that feels like a reward for [beating] Liverpool.

“It’s a reward for us – as staff, as players – for us as a club and organisation, but especially as a reward for the Green Army. They also truly deserve this game. Everything is for us to enjoy on Saturday night.”
