Manchester United have received fresh hopes in their attempts to reunite Ruben Amorim with his old pupil Nuno Mendes.
The 22-year-old is now considered amongst the best left-backs in Europe, but his first steps on the senior stage ensued under the careful watch of the current Red Devils boss who was at the time in charge of Sporting CP.
The Portuguese tactician gave the young player the opportunity to prove his worth at the big stage, and the latter certainly made the most out of it, which earned him a €40m transfer to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2021.
Since then, the Portugal international has been a regular starter for the Ligue 1 champions. However, his future in Paris remains up in the air, especially with his contract expiring in the summer of 2026.
Moreover, it has been recently revealed that Mendes has rejected PSG’s extension offers, with his exit becoming a matter of time. After all, the French giants wouldn’t want to lose their leverage over the situation, so they might consider selling the player soon rather than risking losing him for free next year, especially with the left-back seemingly determined to play his football elsewhere.

According to TBR, Mendes has now told PSG officials that he wishes to join Man United and reunite with his old mentor, Amorim.
This is certainly music to the ears of the Red Devil faithful, especially with the club in dire need of a new left-back amidst Luke Shaw’s never-ending injury woes and Tyrell Malacia’s physical struggles.
However, the Premier League giants will likely find it difficult to fork out the requested £50 million, especially at this stage of the season.
