There were multiple Barcelona players who stepped up to the plate as the Catalans secured an entertaining 5-2 win over Real Madrid to clinch the Spanish Super Cup.
While much of the limelight was on Raphinha following his Man of the Match performance on the night, Marc Casado was another Barcelona star who shone with his brilliant performance against Los Blancos.
Casado did not have the best of starts to the game as his lost ball led to Kylian Mbappe’s opening goal inside five minutes.
But the youngster made an extraordinary recovery and ended the game leading in several statistics.
Casado was the second player to attempt the most passes, boasting an impressive 91% success rate. He also delivered the highest number of balls into the final third, all 13 with perfect accuracy.

Casado’s game wasn’t just about playmaking. Defensively, he was equally dominant. He committed the most fouls with seven, as he disrupted Madrid’s flow, and was also the field player with the highest number of interceptions, tallying six.
The youngster’s assist for Raphinha’s goal was the highlight of his night, adding to his season’s tally of six assists, all against formidable opponents.
This season, Casado has consistently shown up in big games, providing assists against teams like Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and AS Monaco, proving his clutch performance under pressure.
Wednesday’s performance was no exception and a further indicator of the fact that Barcelona have indeed found their ideal replacement for Sergio Busquets.
Barcelona will be hoping Casado can continue this momentum throughout the remainder of the season.
