Home Park hasn't been a happy home for Plymouth Argyle for the vast majority of the season so far.

The Pilgrims sit rock-bottom of the Championship table with eight games to play, as Miron Muslic's side sit five points behind 22nd-placed Derby County.

As a result, fan frustration at the trajectory of their team's season has reached boiling point, with Home Park regulars struggling to see a route to safety for their side.

Argyle's historic home ground that has accommodated the Greens since 1903 has been where they've been at their best this season, however, with 25 of their 33 points after 38 games coming on home soil.

"The other element is" - Plymouth urged to think things through before making Home Park change

We asked our Plymouth Argyle fan pundit, Chris: 'If you could improve or change one thing about your club's stadium, what would it be and why?'

Chris said: "Home Park Stadium - also known as the Theatre of Greens to many fans - has been the home of Plymouth Argyle for many years.

"Although there are many fans who will wish to have certain upgrades made to the stadium, for example, a popular topic is to fill in the corners, as it's called, whereby some of the corners haven't got any seating arrangements.

"As such, there have been calls for more seats to be added to the stadium. There has to be a cost benefit analysis done for that, i.e. the cost of putting the seats in would actually reap the financial benefits of having additional fans turn up.

"The other element is expanding the stadium, because the scaffolding on the outside of the stadium was designed as such so that another tier could be added to it. However, again, the same cost-benefit analysis needs to be applied.

"In truth, I can't think of many upgrades that I would consider for the stadium. Of course, there's always aesthetic changes, i.e. for example the old sign boards out the front of the stadium may need a little bit of a tinker and upgrade.

"But in realistic terms, I don't think there is much you could do with the stadium, particularly at this point in time. Crucially, there's a financial element that needs to be considered whenever considering an upgrade to a stadium."

Plymouth will surely require Championship security before thinking of Home Park expansion

It goes without saying that stadium expansions aren't cheap.

They also tend to arrive at a time when the club is in the midst of a successful period, and as such, that feel-good factor and an increase in profile and profits can be utilised in order to accommodate more supporters.

However, Plymouth Argyle find themselves in a precarious position at this moment in time, with the club staring down the barrel of a return to League One football for next season.

If that is to be the case, the club's revenues associated with being in the Championship will evaporate, as their coffers will no doubt take a significant hit should they fall into the third tier.

But, if they are to perform a minor miracle and claw their way to second tier survival this term, then the profits gained for a third successive season in the Championship could lay the foundations for a Home Park makeover.

Therefore, it could well be a vital few weeks for the future of any potential expansion plans at the home of Plymouth Argyle.
