Manchester United will bid farewell to four senior Reds this summer when their contracts expire at Old Trafford.
Indeed, Christian Eriksen, Victor Lindelof, Jonny Evans and Tom Heaton are now in the final three months of their terms in M16, having not been offered fresh deals by the club.
Evans, 37, and Heaton, 38, may well decide to hang up their boots—and gloves—for good. They have enjoyed successful careers with the Red Devils and could certainly use their expertise in coaching roles.
As for Eriksen, 32, and Lindelof, 30, it’s safe to say the pair still have a lot to give for another club. Both have been utilised by Ruben Amorim in revent weeks, albeit mostly due to injuries to their counterparts, but are no longer at the calibre United require if the side wants to get back amongst the top European places next season.
Eriksen boasts a plethora of experience across the top leagues, including the Eredivisie with Ajax, Serie A with Inter Milan and two stints in the Premier League with Tottenham Hotspur and United respectively. This season, he’s notched a respectable four goals and four assists in 27 appearances.
He may not be the most agile at this stage of his career, however, the Dane is undoubtedly one of the Reds’ more technical and creative talents on the ball. Such attributes were recognised by ex-Denmark manager Lars Knudsen, who hailed Eriksen as ‘incredibly skilled’.

Nonetheless, the player himself is resigned to leaving Manchester upon the culmination of 2024/2025. Now back on international duty for the next fortnight, he told reporters at Sport TV (as cited by UtdDistrict): “I haven’t been told anything, and when I don’t, I assume that the collaboration will stop.
“That’s how I interpret it. Everyone knows that the contract expires, so I reckon there is only one way.
“I have come to terms with finding a new club. Where it will be, I don’t know yet, but I am free on the market, and I have not tried that before. I was also free after the cardiac arrest, but it was a slightly different situation.”
“I still feel I have a few good years left abroad,” Eriksen continued. “Football-wise, I don’t feel I’m at the point where I want to move home to Denmark and play in the Superliga.”
Pressed on whether he could consider a move to the United States, he responded: “The family will not travel that far.
“I haven’t seen anything I really want to try, so I’ll see what comes up and what suits me and the family.”
