Manchester United are willing to sell Kobbie Mainoo for a considerable transfer fee in the summer, as per reports.

United adopted a ruthless approach during the winter transfer window, sending Marcus Rashford to Aston Villa in a high-profile loan deal.

Due to their financial fair play concerns, the Red Devils were also prepared to sell Alejandro Garnacho. Napoli tried to sign the Argentina international but his excessive wage demands hampered their pursuit.

Now it is being suggested that INEOS would be open to selling another academy product, Mainoo, at the end of the season if their asking price is met.

According to Fichajes, United are ready to listen to offers for the dynamic midfielder “if proposals reach £80m.”

It is suggested that such a figure could greatly help Ruben Amorim improve his squad by bringing in reinforcements over the summer.

Mainoo, who enjoyed his breakthrough under Erik ten Hag, is regarded as one of the most talented prospects to come out of United’s academy.

His awareness, physicality, and technical prowess in the middle of the park have made him a sought-after name in the transfer market.

The Spanish outlet claim his “market value has risen considerably” and clubs like Bayern Munich and Chelsea are interested in securing his services. The player’s contract at Old Trafford is up in the summer of 2027.

Mainoo shone as a box-to-box midfielder under Ten Hag. However, he has struggled defensively in that role in Amorim’s 3-4-3 system as there is a lot of space to cover for the two midfielders.

To minimise the 19-year-old’s defensive responsibilities and hand him more freedom to roam in the final third, the Portuguese tactician has used him as a wide playmaker behind the striker in recent games.

However, this switch could also play a part in United considering Mainoo’s exit as the centre-midfielder is not an elite wide playmaker, akin to the likes of Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz.
