Tajon Buchanan insists he has a good rapport with Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi despite sporadic first-team opportunities.
Speaking to DAZN via FCInterNews, Buchanan admitted he’s improving after returning from a long-term injury.
The 25-year-old wingback joined Inter from Club Brugge last January in a deal worth around €7 million plus add-ons.
However, a language barrier significantly derailed his adaption last term.
Buchanan made ten league appearances in his maiden season in Serie A, scoring once.
It’s worth noting that he started showing glimpses of his potential toward the end of the 2023/24 campaign.
Yet, he broke his leg at last summer’s Copa America. Therefore, he was out of action until November.
Inzaghi has only handed the Canadian star 54 minutes of top-flight football since regaining full fitness.
But Buchanan remains confident of securing regular first-team action at Giuseppe Meazza in the coming months.
The lightning-fast wingback made a late cameo appearance in a 2-0 win against Como last night.
Indeed, he replaced Federico Dimarco in the 80th minute.
There are no hard feelings, even though he’s been on the fringes.
“It’s good, and it’s improving with every game,” Buchanan commented on his relationship with Inzaghi.
“I try to take in as much as possible, and I believe the improvements are visible.”
Carlos Augusto and Marcus Thuram led Inter to victory.
Meanwhile, Buchanan fared well on the left flank, especially in transition, demonstrating his blistering speed.
“I arrived not long ago and had an injury last summer, but now I’m increasing my playing time,” he added.
“I feel like I’m improving.”
With high-profile fixtures coming thick and fast, Buchanan could gain more minutes in the coming weeks.
However, he’ll likely start on the bench when Inter take on Cagliari in their last league game of 2024 next weekend.
