There is no hiding the fact that Martinez is woefully out of form in front of goal.

The Argentine did manage to get himself on the scoresheet against Cagliari in Serie A last weekend.

That was an important goal because it saw Martinez end a goal drought that had lasted nearly two months in an Inter shirt.

However, against Atalanta in the Supercoppa Italiana it was yet another match without a goal for the Inter captain.

If Martinez is going to build on his goal against Cagliari, he’ll have to wait.

Inter Captain Lautaro Martinez Not Stressing Despite Lack Of Goals

A couple of years ago, a period like this would have eaten away at Martinez.

Strikers are always hoping to find their groove in front of goal.

And when the normally-prolific Martinez has gone a few matches without a goal in the past, it has generally been evident in his body language.

Martinez has had to learn to control his frustration and anxiety.

But, particularly since taking over the captain’s armband, Martinez has learned to cope with these period.

Martinez does not sulk or lose his self-confidence.

There is plenty that the Nerazzurri captain does for the team beyond scoring goals.

Martinez sets the done for Inter defensively with his intense pressing from the front. And he also contributes a lot in terms of his linkup play.

In recent week that side of Martinez’s game has been evident. He has not let his frustrations in front of goal affect his overall game as he perhaps would have in the past.

Therefore, Inter as a whole have not suffered from Martinez’s personal struggles to score.

And the Argentine will feel it’s only a matter of time before he also gets back to regularly scoring.
