Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi isn’t hiding the fact that the Nerazzurri “want to go all the way” in the Champions League.
The coach spoke to Amazon Prime Video, via FCInterNews, after yesterday’s win over Monaco.
Inter booked their place in the Champions League round of sixteen yesterday.
The Nerazzurri did so in emphatic fashion. They beat Monaco 3-0 to qualify directly for the knockouts.
A draw would have actually sufficed for Inter to avoid a playoff round in February.
However, the Nerazzurri were hardly in any mood to play for the result.
Inter won, clinching their place in fourth spot in the Champions League table. That sends a big message that they are among the teams with a realistic chance of winning the competition.
The Nerazzurri were in the final of the Champions League two seasons ago.
And Inter’s group stage campaign – featuring seven clean sheets from eight, gritty wins, and capped off with some real fireworks yesterday – suggests they can get there again.
After yesterday’s match, Inter captain Lautaro Martinez straightforwardly admitted that the team are targeting Champions League glory this season.
And the team’s coach is of the same mind.

After yesterday’s match, Simone Inzaghi said that “I congratulated the team.”
“We played eight great matches. This has been a great journey for us, and that’s not to be taken for granted.”
“Just look at some of the top teams who finished outside the top eight in the table,” Inzaghi noted.
“The guys deserve respect for what they did. It’s extraordinary.”
The Inter coach went on, “We conceded a goal in Leverkusen from a corner that shouldn’t have given” – the only time that the Nerazzurri have conceded in Europe this season.
“Now our goal is to go all the way in the Champions League,” Inzaghi declared. “And in every competition.”
“Then there are other teams who will want to do the same.”
Inzaghi said that “I’ve been saying since the 13th of July, I’m the coach of one of the greatest clubs in the world.”
“We’ve been fighting for trophies in the four years I’ve been here. We’re really ambitious, and we want to keep going like this.”
