Inter Milan have decided to let Francesco Pio Esposito be part of the Italy squad at the Under-21 Euros this summer.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews. They report that this will be at the expense of the 19-year-old striker being in Inter’s Club World Cup squad.

The Nerazzurri have secured the teenager’s long-term future with a new contract. Esposito will extend his deal until the end of June 2030.

That has warded off transfer interest in the young striker.

Reportedly, Napoli made an offer for the 19-year-old. They didn’t want to sign him on loan – they want to sign Pio Esposito outright.

But Inter rejected that bid.

Torino are also very keen on Pio Esposito.

Meanwhile, from the Premier League the likes of Manchester United and Leicester City have reportedly expressed an interest in the young striker’s signature.

Meanwhile, report Tuttosport, Borussia Dortmund are also major admirers of Pio Esposito.

Time is certainly on Francesco Pio Esposito’s side.

Having impressed on loan with Spezia this season, the 19-year-old has earned a place in the long-term plans at Inter.

Sooner or later, the Nerazzurri will want to give Esposito a chance in the first team squad.

On paper, the Club World Cup this summer would represent just such an opportunity.

However, that competition will coincide with the Under-21 Euros.

And Pio Esposito is a key player for Italy in that competition.

Therefore, there is something of a scheduling conflict.

And according to Tuttosport, Inter see Esposito participating in the Euros this summer as better for the young striker’s development than integrating him into their squad for the Club World Cup.

Therefore, that is the competition that the 19-year-old will prioritize.
