Inter Milan president Beppe Marotta admits the club has no intention of refurbishing San Siro, insisting they’re keen to build a new stadium.
During his latest interview with DAZN via FCInterNews, Marotta confirmed Nerazzurri’s plan to construct a new, state-of-the-art venue.
It’s no secret that AC Milan and Inter have been exploring the possibility of building a new stadium for some time.
However, the process has been anything but straightforward.
For starters, negotiations with local authorities have progressed slowly.
Then, there’s a genuine need to address the concerns of nearby residents and manage financial backing.
Despite these hurdles, the clubs remain determined to move forward with the project.
Indeed, the two clubs, who share the iconic San Siro, have faced increasing challenges in renovating the aging facility.
Those obstacles have led them to prioritize a modern venue that meets the needs of both teams and their growing fanbases.
Beppe Marotta emphasized that the new stadium will not only benefit the clubs financially.
It would also enhance the fan experience, following the examples of Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur.
“Renovating San Siro is not a goal at this moment. Building a new stadium for Inter and Milan definitely is,” Marotta revealed.
This ambitious project aims to rival the best stadiums in Europe.
Indeed, its leading purpose is to position the clubs to compete at the highest level on and off the field.
Speaking at the AIC Grand Gala ceremony, the Inter president explained what the club must do to stay on the upward trajectory.
“With a culture of work, a sense of belonging, and great motivation in every member of the club,” he said.
Inter won the Scudetto last season, but they’re reluctant to rest on their laurels.
Simone Inzaghi’s men are hellbent on defending their crown and adding another UEFA Champions League title to their trophy cabinet.
