In addition to tying Piotr Zielinski to a four-year deal, Inter Milan have renewed the expiring contracts of Francesco Acerbi and Matteo Darmian.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, as reported by FCInterNews, the reigning Scudetto holders have extended the aging defenders’ deal until 2026.

Piotr Zielinski joined Inter as a free agent in the summer after refusing to pledge his future to Napoli.

However, he hasn’t signed a three-year contract as initially reported.

Instead, the Poland international has committed to a four-year deal, pledging his allegiance to Giuseppe Meazza until 2028.

Following an injury-hit start to life at Inter, the 30-year-old is seemingly back to his best.

Indeed, Zielinski enjoyed a phenomenal first Serie A start for the Nerazzurri last weekend.

He slotted home two first-half penalties as Inter played out an enthralling 4-4 draw against arch-rivals Juventus on Sunday.

In the absence of Hakan Calhanoglu, Zielinski showed Simone Inzaghi that he could count on him more frequently.

Acerbi’s future at Inter has been among the major talking points since the start of the season.

He and Stefan de Vrij were the leading candidates to make room for new defensive arrivals at the end of the campaign.

However, Inter have expressed their gratitude to the 36-year-old by extending his expiring contract.

Acerbi’s previous deal was due to expire next summer. But the club has rewarded him with a short-term extension.

The same goes for Darmian, who has been Inzaghi’s first choice at right wingback.

Despite his attacking limitations, the Italian ace has been ahead of Denzel Dumfries in the pecking order.

Yet, that has recently changed, with the Dutch star enjoying a notable rise after October’s international break.

Dumfries was on the scoresheet in Sunday’s Derby d’Italia after being given a rare chance to start ahead of Darmian.
