There was one major injury concern to arise from Manchester City’s 2-1 win over Leyton Orient. That was the injury suffered by midfielder Nico Gonzàlez. The Spanish midfielder limped off early in the first half with an apparent hip injury. Now it remains to be seen if Nico Gonzàlez will be available for Manchester City’s UEFA Champions League clash with Real Madrid.
Speaking after his team’s win over Leyton Orient Pep Guardiola was asked if Nico Gonzàlez would be available for City’s clash with Real Madrid. The City manager was hopeful that Gonzàlez could play. He told the media: “I hope so. The kick was strong in this area. We have a few days, we will see.”
Manchester City will be hoping that Nico Gonzàlez is available for their clash with Real Madrid. The Spanish giants do have a powerful and athletic midfield. Jude Bellingham and Federico Valverde do loom over the midfield battle at the Etihad. Manchester City’s midfield has struggled against quick and athletic teams this season. The hope is that Nico Gonzàlez will be fit enough to play against Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
There was also good news on the injury front for Manchester City. John Stones has now played three games in a row after injury. Ruben Dias also returned from injury against Leyton Orient. Speaking on John Stones and Ruben Dias Guardiola said: “For the last three months he (John Stones) hasn’t played 90 minutes and the last two games he played without pain. That’s really good because his presence is important. Ruben again is back, he played 45 minutes. We will see how many players we can recover for the next games.”
Manchester City will be hoping that Nico Gonzàlez is available for their clash with Real Madrid. If he is remains to be seen. Despite the knock suffered by Gonzàlez the return of Ruben Dias and John Stones returning to full fitness is also good news for Pep Guardiola’s side. Manchester City are getting players back but they will be hoping to have their new midfielder available on Tuesday evening.
