After beating Stade Brestois (3-0) last week in the first leg of the Champions League knockout play-off round, Paris Saint-Germain will be poised to face either Liverpool or FC Barcelona in the last 16 of the Champions League if Luis Enrique’s men can see through the second leg clash with the Bretons this week at the Parc des Princes.Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté (25) sat down with Téléfoot in an interview this morning, where he admitted that he hopes to play against the side from the French capital, which would mark a reunion with his hometown. “It would be fantastic for me personally because I come from there, my parents and family live there, all my friends are there. I grew up with people in Leipzig, and when it was Leipzig-PSG, they supported PSG instead of supporting me, even though I grew up with them.”There have been rumours and reports linking Konaté to a move to Paris in recent weeks. Last Friday, ESPN reported that Paris Saint-Germain had made Liverpool centre-back Ibrahima Konaté (25) a priority target for summer. Konaté’s contract with the Reds currently runs until the summer of 2026, and with 18 months left to go, the Premier League side are making efforts to tie down the defender in Merseyside for longer. The Les Bleus defender reacted to reported interest from the current Ligue 1 leaders as well as current Champions League holders Real Madrid. “To hear big clubs like that are showing interest in me is very flattering,” said Konaté in the same interview which aired this Sunday morning. “Now I’m focussing on this season, giving it my all and I’ll let my agents take care of the rest.GFFN | George Boxall
