Jean-Louis Gasset says he may not finish season as Montpellier manager | OneFootball

Jean-Louis Gasset has once again cast doubt on his immediate future as Montpellier HSC manager. Regardless, he will not go beyond the end of the season but he may not even make it until the end of May on the touchline, he told journalists on Friday.

The situation at Montpellier is dire. Gasset replaced Michel Der Zakarian earlier in the season but he has failed to arrest the slide and currently, MHSC are on course for relegation to Ligue 2. Rock bottom of Ligue 1 and nine points off Le Havre AC, who occupy the relegation play-off spot, Gasset has already said that there is “no hope” of survival.

After the abandonment of the game against AS Saint-Étienne just before the international break in mid-March – eventually awarded as a win for Les Verts – there was talk of a departure for Gasset, however, following a meeting with the hierarchy, it was decided that he would remain.

But there is once again doubt as to whether he will see out the campaign. “I am not certain to finish the season. We’ll get through Le Havre (who they face this weekend), because there is still a 1% chance and we’ll play it to the best of our ability. After that, the club will give me the roadmap, the road to follow. There are multiple possibilities,” he said.
