Even as the new year has now commenced, the drama at FC Barcelona never fails to go away. The Catalan giants, despite having to manage the consequences of their financial missteps, are still haunted by those same issues. With 2025 now here, it is clear to see that Barcelona have some major problems to overcome still.

The most pressing matter in terms of immediate importance was undoubtedly the registration dilemma concerning both Dani Olmo and Pau Victor. Unfortunately, however, the last few days have provided nothing but bad news for the Catalan club despite their efforts to generate additional revenue.

As a direct consequence, according to AS, one man who has been put on the hot seat is none other than club president Joan Laporta. The FC Barcelona leader is now facing the consequences of his own mistakes and his inability to address this current issue beforehand.

With La Liga and the RFEF not being willing to consider the registrations of either of the two summer signings right now, Barcelona has been left in an embarrassing situation. However, that situation is now made even worse because of the mere fact that Laporta’s entire presidency has been quite dependent on reassurances and hope.

From his rather dramatic and big quotes to his ability to pull off miracles at the last moment, Laporta has seemingly always preferred flashy moments over consistency and stability. Unfortunately, those very traits are now back to haunt and damage Laporta’s image.

From his presidential oppositions to even the board members, the current Barcelona president has a lot of eyes and voices directed towards him. As he continues to lose ground and their support, there is accountability being demanded and it seems that Laporta may not have a strong answer for it right now.

This severe miscalculation regarding the registration issue at hand could spell a big threat to Laporta’s presidency. With murmurs of a no-confidence vote now gaining momentum as well, the opposition wishes to take advantage of this situation and address this issue that the current Barcelona president has created for himself.

While there is time until the 3rd of January to finally sort out everything, there is no denying that this entire thing has been an unnecessarily complicated soap opera. It simply now needs to be seen if Laporta has the ability to pull off another miracle at Barcelona or if he has already used up all of his good luck and fortune.
