A leading member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid will undergo a round of medical tests over the days ahead.

As much will come in a bid to ensure his readiness to feature in this weekend’s Madrid derby showdown with Atlético.

Real, of course, marked their return to action on Tuesday night, welcoming Deportivo Alavés to Spain’s capital for a La Liga clash.

When all was said and done, despite a late scare, Carlo Ancelotti’s troops emerged on the right side of a 3-2 scoreline.

And yet, late in proceedings at the Santiago Bernabéu, one source of concern was forthcoming for Los Blancos, on the personnel front.

This came upon star frontman Kylian Mbappé requesting a substitution, owing to what appeared to be some form of discomfort.

Speaking to the media post-match, boss Carlo Ancelotti moved to play the situation down, adamant that his attacking spearhead was simply ‘tired’.

Mbappé, though, will nevertheless be forced to undergo a round of medical checks and scans over the next couple of days.

As per a report from Real Madrid insider Mario Cortegana of The Athletic, the France international complained of ‘minor discomfort in his left thigh’ on Tuesday.

In turn, ‘Madrid confirmed he will undergo tests on Wednesday or Thursday ahead of Sunday’s trip to city rivals Atletico Madrid’.
