Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé secured for himself a piece of history, en route to the club’s defeat at the hands of Barcelona on Saturday.
Real Madrid are of course fresh off another devastating result last night.
After making the trip to Seville for a Copa del Rey finale showdown with arch rivals Barcelona, Los Blancos surrendered the lead, en route to a 3-2 extra-time loss.
Frontman Mbappé, for his part, was introduced to proceedings at the interval at La Cartuja, and to his credit went on to make a major difference.
The highlight of as much came 20 minutes from time, upon the former Paris Saint-Germain standout rattling home a sumptuous free-kick.
And it was precisely this strike which, as alluded to above, etched Mbappé’s name into the history books.
With 34 goals to his name, the France international has now scored more goals in his debut season at Real Madrid than the club’s all-time top scorer, Cristiano Ronaldo, managed in his own first term in Spain’s capital (33).
