Late Leicester kick-off time explained as Foxes miss out on striker

Some of Leicester City's younger fans might be a bit tired later on, or at school on Monday morning. That's because the Foxes' latest match versus Manchester United is at an unusually late time. And that sentiment especially applies with respect to Sunday matchdays. You occasionally get later evening weekend Premier League matches kicking off around 7pm. There have been a few at 8pm on Saturday, but even that is rare.
Weekdays are typically reserved for night clashes in the English top flight. I'd imagine that's to help other entertainment industries such as bars, restaurants and night clubs. However, the King Power club are playing Manchester United at an uncommon hour on this occasion. And we can explain LCFC's late kick-off time for the Blue Army.
Meanwhile we have a transfer rumour to briefly explain. This kind of speculation is more regular during the summer's offseason. Not to mention, of course, when the January market is open. Nevertheless, City continue to be linked with potential recruits in spite of an inactive window. But this time the Foxes will supposedly miss out on a striker they had their eyes on. The starlet in question is on the verge of penning a new contract with his current team.
At the time of writing, (about 4pm) we'd ordinarily be getting ready for the Foxes' fixture with United to begin shortly. Although, today (Sunday) Ruud van Nistelrooy must wait. It'll be another three hours for the match to start against his former club.
So why is the encounter to be played late? Basically the Carabao Cup final between Liverpool and Newcastle United is at fault. And you can blame television coverage for that.
The east Midlands side are connected with an interest in Inter Milan's Francesco Pio Esposito. Let's hear what's being said:
"Some weeks ago, Leicester City were mentioned as a potential destination for Inter Milan striker Francesco Pio Esposito. They [Inter] have made the choice to reject any advances from Leicester City or Manchester United, having spoken to his agent about a new deal. Now, the expectation is that Esposito will sign a new deal in the next few days and an agreement has already been reached between the two parties. They see him as a ‘top player’ and want to secure his future. Leicester City would now have to look at other targets."
