Mergim Berisha is believed to be on the radar of Leeds, who may be on the prowl for a new striker during this window.
Leeds United are interested in a move for Hoffenheim striker Mergim Berisha.
This is according to the Daily Mail sports print edition (January 6th, page 10), who believe the Whites could potentially be on the prowl to improve their attacking department before the window closes in February.
At this stage, Leeds probably have a sufficient number of options in their striker area, with Joel Piroe and Mateo Joseph both able to play up top for Daniel Farke's side.
Patrick Bamford can also be an option - and he has the experience needed to step in if required - having previously played in the Premier League and for his country.
But whether he remains at Elland Road beyond the end of the window remains to be seen, with the forward failing to win enough game time since Leeds' relegation back to the Championship.
Injury issues may have played a part in that, but even when he's been fit, he has struggled for game time at points.
One man who definitely looks destined to secure a winter exit is Joe Gelhardt - a player who has a huge amount of potential - but hasn't really had an opportunity to impress under Farke.
FLW understands Queens Park Rangers are interested in a move for the player, but they aren't the only team to have taken an interest in the 22-year-old, who previously featured for Sunderland.
With Gelhardt's potential exit in mind, it's perhaps no surprise that Leeds are eyeing a move for Berisha.
According to the Daily Mail sports print edition (January 6th, page 10), via MOT Leeds News, the Whites have "shown interest" in the forward, who hasn't exactly been firing on all cylinders this term.
However, that hasn't prevented Farke from taking an interest in the player, who he may be familiar with considering his links to the Bundesliga, having managed there before.
The 26-year-old, who has previously played in Austria and Turkey, has also represented his national team in the past.
Leeds' assignment in January is fairly simple.
They must replace any key players they sell - and they must also address areas where they are light in options.
If Gelhardt leaves, investing in another forward may be a sensible idea, but they need to ensure they get value for money on players.
They need to ensure any key signings are able to do a job in both the Championship and the Premier League, with the club in the promotion mix at this stage.
Berisha's goalscoring record hasn't been great this season, but he has previously been an excellent scorer in the Bundesliga and could do well at Elland Road.
