All the latest transfer news and headlines coming out of Elland Road regarding Leeds United.
Leeds United are a side vying for automatic promotion for the second consecutive season in the Championship, with Daniel Farke's side hoping to better 2023/24 after losing to Southampton in the play-off final.
Despite enjoying a fine season and clocking up a points tally that would ordinarily win a club automatic promotion, Leeds had to plan their next steps for the season carefully in the Championship after missing out on promotion to the top flight.
Plenty of players left the club again this summer. However, despite having just missed out on automatic promotion, there remained optimism that the club could be strong again this season, with Championship competition perhaps less fierce at the top end of the division when looking at the teams that have gone up and come down.
That hasn't proven to be the case thus far, with a competitive title race heating up during the recent festive period. Leeds have lost some ground despite still having an eight-game unbeaten run behind them.
Now, with the window open, you would imagine that the nine or ten clubs realistically capable of finishing inside the Championship's top six, and especially those targeting an automatic finish, will be identifying the January transfer window as a strong opportunity to source additional bodies, depth, and quality.
They cannot afford to be totally inactive in the market again over the next month and will know the importance of getting the January transfer window right this time around. It could be pivotal in shaping the second half of the campaign. So, in the meantime, with a big winter ahead for Farke and the Leeds hierarchy, here we have taken a look at some of the latest transfer news and the biggest headlines coming out of the club.
Leeds are serious about entering the race to sign Middlesbrough forward Emmanuel Latte Lath amid competition from West Ham and Ipswich Town, according to GiveMeSport.
News of Leeds' interest first broke via Leeds United News, who state that the Whites are weighing up an offer to sign the 26-year-old from their Championship rivals. Leeds have joined the race to sign Latte Lath from Middlesbrough this January, with multiple clubs now circling around the striker’s future.
It has been reported by Football Insider that a bid in the region of £15 million could be enough to tempt the Teesside outfit into a sale while GMS report that it is believed that Middlesbrough would be open to a sale if their asking price is met, with Leeds now discussing the possibility of making an offer.
The likes of West Ham, Ipswich Town, and Leicester City have all been mentioned as interested parties in the Ivorian, who is considered to be one of the best centre-forwards in the second tier.
Don Goodman believes that the links between Leeds and Nottingham Forest centre-back, Andrew Omobamidele, are "interesting" given the West Yorkshire outfit's current predicament.
Leeds have, along with their geographical and promotion rivals at Bramall Lane, been linked with a potential move for the 22-year-old Republic of Ireland international, who Farke knows extremely well after working with him during a successful period at Norwich City.
It was reported that Leeds had expressed an interest in the central defender during the summer, before those rumours resurfaced in the early days of the current window, as per Alan Nixon. However, there have been question marks over whether a switch to Elland Road is a necessity for both parties, which is the consensus Goodman has agreed with.
He spoke to FLW via Plejmo.com: "Daniel Farke knows Andrew Omobamidele and he was a decent Championship defender at Norwich. However, he's not cut it at Nottingham Forest and I'm not sure whether he's an upgrade on what Leeds United have currently got and whether they really need him for depth.
"It's an interesting link. Daniel Farke knows him better than I do and if Omobamidele does sign it will be down to the manager knowing what he's capable of."
Leeds United’s Manor Solomon has hinted he would be open to staying at Elland Road beyond his loan spell from Tottenham Hotspur, according to The Athletic.
Solomon has impressed the Leeds faithful in recent times, contributing three goals and four assists from 19 Championship outings, and a decision will have to be made in the near future about where he plays his football next term. The choice could rest on which division the Whites end up playing in next season, but Solomon appears determined to make the step up to the Premier League, with a better chance of regular game time while in West Yorkshire.
Speaking to The Athletic, Solomon said: “I love it here. I love the fans. I love the club. I love the players, the manager. Especially now, I’m really enjoying it, and I love living here.
“Of course, it’s different to London, less things to do and we have less friends here. All the Israelis, they live in London, but we found our place here.
“You can’t predict what will happen in the future, whether I come back to Tottenham, whether I go to a different team, or whether I stay here in Leeds, you can’t predict it, but, of course, for me, the door is really open.”
