Football has a way of connecting generations that no other professional sport can, and yesterday, the Delap etched a quiet corner for themselves in the annals of Premier League lore.
Coveted Ipswich striker Liam Delap was a key catalyst in the Tractor Boys' 2-0 win over title pushers Chelsea, earning Kieran McKenna's men just their third win this season since their top-flight return.
Dispatching his effort from the penalty spot after being deemed to have been brought down by Blues shot-stopper Filip Jörgensen, Delap seemingly achieved the impossible; the same thing his father managed to do.
Fifteen years ago, Stoke City cult hero Rory Delap also opened the scoring against Chelsea during the 2008-09 Premier League season, hitting one of his only two goals across the league that campaign.
Liam may be having a much better time of it in front of his goal than his father, but the family Delap can at least claim to be Chelsea killers around the holiday table.
