‘Like a father to us’… Barcelona star speaks about Hansi Flick and his connection with the team | OneFootball

This season has been all about grit and determination from a Barcelona team led by Hansi Flick. Since arriving as the team’s head coach in the summer, the German coach has completely transformed the Catalan side. Even now, Barcelona continue to compete for every single title.

First came their massive Spanish Super Cup win against Real Madrid, a match which declared that this team was special. Now, most recently, Barça managed to defeat Los Blancos again as they managed yet another big win in the Copa del Rey and are now the champions of the competition.

All of this has been made possible by Hansi Flick, who has transformed this team through both his tactical input and through his connection with the squad. Even the Barcelona players themselves acknowledge just how big of an influence Flick has been on their respective individual seasons.

Recently, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona star Pedri also highlighted Flick’s importance to the team. For the young Spaniard, the German coach is nothing short of a father figure for the players at Barça:

“Hansi Flick is like a father to us. He always tries to take care of us.”

Speaking about it further, the Barcelona midfielder explained just how connected Hansi Flick is to his players and how he helps them out when they need him:

“He’s there to support you if you’re not playing, and he always tries to help you. He looks strict from the outside, but he always stand by us when going through a bad time.”

Previously, players like Raphinha have also spoken about the impact that Hansi Flick has had on their season. For the Brazilian star, a player who is pushing for the Ballon d’Or this season, Flick’s arrival changed a lot of things.

Similarly, even players like Eric Garcia are still at the club thanks to the Barcelona manager’s involvement. In many ways, both significant and small, the German tactician has enabled his players to feel comfortable again and play at their best possible level.
