Liverpool entertain Leicester City on Boxing Day at Anfield. Clearly the match couldn't come at a better time for the flying Merseyside club. Conversely, the fixture couldn't be scheduled at a worse stage for the floundering Foxes. A dramatic contrast exists between boss Arne Slot's start to Reds life and how LCFC manager Ruud van Nistelrooy's tenure is swiftly developing. I must say I am not confident for this one, apologies, Blue Army! It just feels as though the Premier League's current leaders could break some sort of scoring record against the east Midlanders this Thursday.

Why do I feel this way? Well, van Nistelrooy has done nothing to settle or stabilise the defence. In fact, even during the win and loss the Dutchman oversaw, defenders appeared lost, overwhelmed and unsure of their responsibilities. You could argue that things have gotten worse under the ex-Manchester United man. However, I do believe the squad was wholly ineffective and filled with top flight ineptitude prior to his arrival. Irrespective, the prospect of playing Liverpool away is utterly daunting at present.

On the contrary, a major shock is a possibility with sides like Leicester. Over the years, the Leicestershire team earned a reputation for losing easier games and being triumphant in very difficult encounters. I'm not suggesting that City will get any points from this one. Parking the bus and obtaining a draw would be a miracle. Although, I've actually been in the away end of this particular ground and watched Leicester miraculously win. So anything's possible! Before the contest, let's take a look at both sides' injury news along with potential (and any active) suspensions amid a Reds fitness boost.

A comeback is on the cards for Italian winger Federico Chiesa:

"Federico Chiesa - potential returnThe winger made his first appearance since September in the 2-1 win over Southampton last week. Chiesa was omitted from the squad against Tottenham as Liverpool continue to manage his fitness but he could be back. Slot will have to make a decision.Ibrahima Konate - out; Conor Bradley - out; Ryan Gravenberch and Darwin Nunez are close to suspension."Liverpool World

"Mads Hermansen - doubt'The goalkeeper suffered an injury in a 4-0 loss to Newcastle and was absent against Wolves.'Wilfred Ndidi - out; Issahaku Fatawu and Ricardo Pereira are long-term absentees."
