The goalkeeper is heading back to Merseyside for further tests

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has withdrawn from the Brazil squad following a concussion.

Brazil doctors confirmed after the game that Alisson had suffered a suspected concussion and would undergo tests.

"Alisson suffered a head injury and was replaced due to a suspected concussion," Brazil’s team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar said.

"We will now follow the CBF protocol, and he will undergo the recommended imaging tests, a CT scan and then a diffusion MRI. If all the tests are normal, we will proceed and perform a cognitive test. Then we will evaluate the player. He is normal, without any complaints. He did not report any fainting or memory loss.”

It has now been confirmed that Alisson has returned to Liverpool for further tests.

A statement from the Premier League club read: “Alisson Becker has departed the Brazil national team set-up and will return to Liverpool.

“The goalkeeper was forced off in the second half of his nation's World Cup qualifier with Colombia in the early hours of Friday following a collision.

“Alisson is travelling back to Merseyside and will undergo assessment from the Reds' medical staff.”

Alisson will miss the huge showdown next week with Argentina, with Al Nassr’s Bento his expected replacement.

Liverpool are next in action on April 2 when they host Everton in the Merseyside derby.
