Liverpool forward Federico Chiesa scored his first goal for the club after he netted in injury time during the 4-0 win over Accrington Stanley in the FA Cup at Anfield on Saturday.

The 27-year-old Italian joined in the summer transfer window from Juventus, but he has barely featured due to injury issues.

In recent weeks, Chiesa has been linked with a move away from Anfield, with several Italian clubs vying for his signature.

Arne Slot has indicated that the club has no such desire to send him out on loan permanently, and the player appears to have hinted that he wants to continue at Liverpool after he shared a post on Instagram with the caption – “YNWA” (short form of You’ll Never Walk Alone).

Fabrizio Romano has shared that Cheisa’s agent has also confirmed that the player’s priority is to stay at Liverpool.

Liverpool should keep Federico Chiesa

The former Fiorentina forward may not have featured regularly, but he can still play a big part in the second half of the season, along with Harvey Elliott and others who have also struggled for game time.

Slot has been very cautious about players who have returned from injuries after a lengthy spell on the sidelines, and he wants to gradually use them so that they get up to speed.

Chiesa is fit again, and the goal will give him immense confidence. Throughout the second half, he was involved in some very good scoring opportunities and eventually got the goal from a long-distance effort.

While Mohamed Salah remains the first-choice option for the right-wing position, Cheisa can come from the bench and make an impact. He can also play as a striker, and Liverpool can change his role, considering how Darwin Nunez is misfiring.

Liverpool are involved in many competitions, and Slot needs players at his disposal so that he can rotate the squad properly. Moreover, if one of the regular players picks up a freakish injury, Chiesa can look to fill in that role.

It makes a lot of sense for Liverpool to reject all loan offers for him, and keep the player beyond January as he could still prove to be a great weapon for the Reds this season.
