Liverpool will look to return to winning ways when they face Everton in the Premier League on Wednesday night at Goodison Park.
Both teams played one game less than the rest, and after this game, every team will have played 24 matches. If Liverpool win this fixture, then they will take a healthy nine-point lead at the top.
The Reds are heading into this game on the back of a 1-0 defeat against Plymouth Argyle in the FA Cup.
Arne Slot made several changes to the side, but it was still a strong line-up against the Championship relegation strugglers. They will look to shake off the disappointment and focus on picking up all three points away from home.
The Liverpool boss has confirmed today that Joe Gomez is unavailable for this game. The Reds defender returned to the starting line-up against Plymouth, but he lasted only eight minutes.
Slot said: “Joe, it’s the same leg he had the injury last time. We are still assessing that. But he will definitely not be with us tomorrow.”
Everton have seen a mini-resurgence under new manager David Moyes. The Toffees lost 2-0 against AFC Bournemouth in the FA Cup, but they are on a fantastic run in the Premier League after winning three games in a row.
Liverpool fans will be delighted to hear about the latest update on Trent Alexander-Arnold. The Reds defender missed the previous two games with an injury, but he has returned to light training and could feature against the Toffees as well.
In all probability, Slot will not take any risk with Alexander-Arnold. Connor Bradley is a fantastic right-back, and he can be an equally terrific option for Liverpool.
The injury to Gomez comes as a big blow for the club, but the Reds have enough depth and quality to cope with his absence.
