Liverpool return to Champions League action with a visit from French Ligue 1 outfit LOSC Lille to Anfield as The Reds look to continue their fine form in Europe as well as domestically.

Sitting pretty at the top of both their European standings and the Premier League, a victory or perhaps even a point here would all but ensure Arne Slot’s side qualification as qualification.

Whilst the jeopardy may not be paramount, Liverpool have showed no signs of letting up and until it’s secured nothing will be taken for granted, with more than just momentum still on the line.

Ahead of the match, Dan spoke to Lille journalist for La Voix du Nord, Olivier Fosseux to get the view from their perspective ahead of a European night under the lights at Anfield.

On their form: “Lille comes out of a week of qualification in the French Cup and. good second half against Nice. They can be ineffective but LOSC are a team with a lot of character, currently undefeated in 21 matches.”

Injuries: Tiago Santos, Fernandes Pardo, Ethan Mbappe, Samuel Umtiti, and Nabil Bentaleb are currently injured and Andre Gomes is not registered.”

Key Players: “The key men for Lille are Lucas Chevalier. Benjamin André and Jonathan David. It was Angel Gomes but since his injury in November he hasn’t played as much.”

Style: “Lille play in a 4-2-3-1. It will likely be Chevalier, Mandi, Diakite, Alexsandro, Gudmundsson, André, Bouaddi, Bakker, Cabella, Haraldsson, David.”

“Lille will play as usual with big pressing on the ball carrier. The central defence is very strong aerially.”

Prediction: “Liverpool are a great team. It’ll be a good match and Lille will be hoping to keep their recent invincibility but it will be very difficult.”

Lille’s current run of form will certainly bring with it confidence that they can get a positive result from Anfeld and in turn give the side current sat 8th in the Champions League standings a renewed hope of qualification.

That said, at home in Europe can often be too much for visitors to handle and Slot will certainly hope that’s the case once again.

Liverpool Predicted XI: Alisson, Bradley, Quansah, Van Dijk, Robertson; Endo, Jones, Elliott; Salah, Gakpo; Nunez.
