Lyon are set to cash in on Academy product Rayan Cherki (21) this summer transfer window amid interest from several major European sides, including Liverpool, according to L’Equipe. The 21-year-old versatile playmaker has announced he has probably already played his final game with Les Gones, alerting a handful of clubs in Europe.

Borussia Dortmund are reportedly in touch with Lyon about the signing of Cherki. The Bundesliga side are long-term suitors of the Lyon Academy product, but a previous deal collapsed at the 11th hour when Lyon turned down Dortmund’s bid. AC Milan are also reportedly in talks with OL, but the Rossoneri are yet to get in touch with Cherki’s camp. L’Equipe understands that Liverpool have been following Cherki for a while. The playmaker could receive his first senior France call-up today.

With such suitors, Lyon have every intent to wage a bidding war. Les Gones reportedly hope to garner at least a €40m transfer fee. The outlet understands Cherki and Lyon signed a clause which allows the player to receive a compensation fee should Lyon were to turn down a €22.5m bid. But the clause is expected to be irrelevant, given it has already been triggered this winter.
