Chelsea will return to action this weekend when they take on Aston Villa in an away fixture in the Premier League. The former side faced a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Brighton in their previous game and will be desperate to return to winning ways.

The Blues are sixth on the points table and cannot afford to drop points any further. Enzo Maresca’s side needs to utilize their opportunities if they wish to seal a berth for the Champions League competition for the next season.

Defence

Filip Jorgensen didn’t meet the expectations but could get another opportunity to prove himself between the sticks. Right-back Malo Gusto is likely to be retained but needs to show more solidity in the defensive aspects.

Enzo Maresca is expected to pair up Trevoh Chalobah and Levi Colwill at the heart of the defence once again. Left-back Marc Cucurella had a dismal performance and he needs to step up his game immediately.

Midfield

Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo are likely to be deployed in the middle of the park yet again. They will be carrying huge responsibilities of controlling the midfield and cutting down the threats.

Pedro Neto will be seen running from the right flank while Jadon Sancho trying to create threats from the other side of the pitch. Cole Palmer takes up the attacking midfielder role as usual in the lineup.

Christopher Nkunku could be used as the number nine once again despite him not being impactful in that role.

Nicolas Jackson, Noni Madueke, Roméo Lavia, Benoit Badiashile and Wesley Fofana are all sidelined for Chelsea.
