The brief Ruud van Nistelrooy era draws to a close at Manchester United on Sunday as the Red Devils take on Leicester in the Premier League.

The Dutchman's interim spell in charge began with a convincing win over the Foxes in the Carabao Cup, and the club's former marksman has since overseen a draw with Chelsea and triumph over PAOK in the Europa League.

Amad Diallo scored a brace in Thursday's 2-0 win as United secured their first win of the league phase.

The point recorded against the Blues last Sunday did little to help United's Premier League standing, and it's unlikely that incoming head coach Ruben Amorim will inherit a team residing in the top-half of the table even if they win here.

They're taking on a Leicester side who they thumped in the Carabao Cup 5-2 and are currently 15th in the top flight following a decent run of form. Steve Cooper's side secured back-to-back wins last month and head into this contest off the back of a 1-1 draw at Portman Road last weekend.

Here is 90min's guide to the game.

Mason Mount finally returned from a head injury in the week but is likely to remain on United's bench for Leicester's visit. Van Nistelrooy could recall Christian Eriksen to his starting XI, while Lisandro Martinez, Matthijs de Ligt, and Marcus Rashford will come back into the Dutchman's team after earning midweek rests.

Leny Yoro is back in training having recovered from a foot injury sustained in pre-season, but we'll likely have to wait for Amorim to arrive before we see the Frenchman in action.

The hosts will also be without Harry Maguire, Toby Collyer, Tyrell Malacia, Luke Shaw, and Kobbie Mainoo on Sunday. Amad is a doubt after picking up a knock amid Thursday's heroics.

Man Utd confirmed lineup vs Leicester lineup vs Leicester (4-2-3-1): Onana; Dalot, De Ligt, Martinez, Mazraoui; Casemiro, Ugarte; Amad, Fernandes, Rashford; Hojlund.

Leicester are going to be much changed from the recent cup defeat at Old Trafford, and they have no fresh injury concerns from last weekend's draw at Ipswich.

Patson Daka is yet to feature this season due to an ankle injury, but there's a slim chance of the striker making his comeback this weekend.

Bobby De Cordova Reid picked up a knock at United ten days ago and is doubtful to feature here, while Hamza Choudury and Jakub Stolarczyk are both unlikely to play.

Leicester confirmed lineup vs Man Utd (4-2-3-1): Hermansen; Justin, Faes, Vestergaard, Kristiansen; Soumare, Ndidi, Winks; Fatawu, Ayew, Buonanotte.

Man Utd vs Leicester score prediction

We've got to expect a different game from the cup tie last week, but not necessarily a different outcome.

There have not been drastic changes at Old Trafford in the wake of Erik ten Hag's departure, but United have at least shown some semblance of cohesion and unity with Van Nistelrooy in charge.

They may have to struggle through Sunday's game against a Leicester team that will be more than content with a point, but Van Nistelrooy's interim spell surely won't end on a sour note. This could be a routine win for the hosts, with the first goal crucial.
