Here are the City player ratings as Manchester City booked their place in the fourth round of the FA Cup with an emphatic 8-nil win over Salford City. The biggest surprise of the game came before kickoff when Kyle Walker wasn’t named in the Manchester City squad for the match. After that, the game showed the gulf in quality and class between the two sides.

First-half goals from Jeremy Doku, Divin Mubama and Nico O’Reilly set Pep Guardiola’s side on their way. In the second half, carnage ensued as a second-half hat trick from James McAtee and goals from Jack Grealish and Jeremy Doku sealed a massive win for Manchester City.

Here are the City player ratings from Manchester City’s emphatic 8-nil win over Salford City.

City player ratings

Ederson-6/10: Had very little to do all game but it was good to see him back on the pitch.

Jahmai Simpson-Pusey-6.5/10: Had a couple of nervy moments but did what he had to do over the course of the 90 minutes.

Nathan Ake-6/10: Played 45 minutes and did what he had to do.

Matheus Nunes-8.5/10: The Portuguese international lined up at right-back and put in an excellent display. Grabbed an assist and played a key role in several of City’s goals.

Ilkay Gundogan-6.5/10: Did his job on the night. Gundogan didn’t stand out but played well.

Nico O’Reilly-8.5/10: Slotted in on the left-hand side of City’s defence and was superb. He grabbed a goal and showed that, in time, he could be anything when he develops as a player.

James McAtee-9/10: Scored a second-half hat trick and showed what he can add to Pep Guardiola’s squad in the second half. Hopefully, that is what McAtee needs to kick on at Manchester City.

Jeremy Doku-10/10: Scored a brace and added two assists as he was a constant threat throughout the game to the Salford City defence. One of his best performances for some time and that could set him up for the second half of the season.

Jack Grealish-8/10: Grabbed an assist and converted a penalty to finally release the shackles on himself. A good display from Grealish.

Savinho-6/10: The Brazilian international had some flashes but was on the periphery of the match before being substituted.

Divin Mubama-7.5/10: The young striker showed plenty on his debut for Manchester City. Scored a goal and never stopped working for his team. There’s a player there and that stood out in his performance.

Substitutes

Manuel Akanji- 6/10: Replaced Ake at halftime and did what was needed.

Phil Foden- 7/10: Will get an assist for McAtee’s second goal and his class stood out when he came on.

Mateo Kovacic- N/A: Not on long enough to mark.
