One transfer target to emerge for Manchester City in recent days is Juventus full-back Andrea Cambiaso. The versatile defender would be a shrewd addition to Pep Guardiola’s squad. His overall game does look to be suited to playing in this current City side. Now a new report indicates that Juventus have told Manchester City their asking price for Cambiaso. That report poses a question: Is a move for the Juventus full-back something Manchester City will consider this season month? The idea does have merit on closer inspection.
Danny Rust and Dean Jones have reported for GIVEMESPORT that Juventus will sell Andrea Cambiaso for £68 million. It is further reported by GIVEMESPORT that Juventus are aiming to secure funds to oversee a rebuild of their squad. Based on this they would reluctantly sell Cambiaso if a bid that meets their demands comes in. This situation could play into Manchester City’s hands as per the GIVEMESPORT report.
Manchester City do appear in need of another full-back. As covered previously City’s squad does lack specialist full-backs. Andrea Cambiaso would help in this regard. The Juventus full-back is a versatile player who can play at right and left-back. That type of player, coupled with Cambiaso’s overall ability, would be a huge boost to Manchester City’s squad. But based on the report from GIVEMESPORT, the asking price Juventus has set for Cambiaso may prove to be problematic.
Based on the report from Dean Jones and Danny Rust £68 million represents a sizable investment for Manchester City to sign Andrea Cambiaso. Is that a price City are willing to meet to sign a full-back? That remains to be seen. Especially when you consider that City remain in the market for a midfielder. Based on City’s needs in the transfer market you would think that a move for a midfielder would take precedence. But as we’ve seen with City’s moves for Abdukodir Khusanov, Vitor Reis and Omar Marmoush City are signing what they need irrespective of position. So perhaps they could move for Andrea Cambiaso in the coming days.
It appears that Juventus have set the transfer fee required for them to sell Andrea Cambiaso. Now it remains to be seen if Manchester City will meet the Serie A giants demands. That’s now a story to watch for over the coming days as City seek to reinforce Pep Guardiola’s squad in the transfer market.
